Daddy’s Little Girl
June 20th, 2006
All I can say is that nothing can prepare you for the moment you first see your child. I was filled with complete joy and utter fear at the same time. I am now responsible for another life.
We brought her home from the hospital over the weekend. I was very apprehensive, since I became accustomed to having a registered nurse check on her throughout the day and make sure she was okay. Now we are on our own with our new baby. I’m running around the house like a madman making sure everything neat and clean, checking her breathing every five minutes when she sleeps, washing my hands vigorously every time I go to pick her up. Then there is the sleepless nights. I cannot remember the last time I had a more than three continuous hours of rest.
Everyone tells you that raising a child is the hardest, scariest yet most rewarding job one could ever have, but you can’t fully comprehend that until you become a parent.
It really is absolutely amazing.
